The Charge Description Master (CDM) is the list of chargeable items for a cost center administered by a “revenue support” finance organization. Typically, this list contains a mixture of procedures and supplies. Billed procedures “capture” productivity. If a cost center charges for the procedure they get credit. The charges are captured every night after the charge passes through the billing process.
Cost centers can have their productivity generated from the charge master. CT scanning is a perfect example. Below is a list of procedures and volumes for a CT cost center by pay period.
