Census....

The system displays Census by day, month and year for a hospital. Select a date to see the admissions, discharges, patient days and the average length of stay for that particular date. The daily, month to date (MTD), Year to date (YTD) and Prior year to date (Prior YTD) are calculated and displayed.

The screen has several active links which allows the user to drill down to get more detail.

Examples:

• DAILY to display the detail of the daily census by unit.

• MTD to view the Month to date details.

• YTD to view the Year to Date Census statistics.

• Rolling Trend to display a 30 day rolling trend.

You can view trended monthly census information for the year. The systems also allows the user to graph the information.

This data is dynamic and will change daily. If a patient is converted from an outpatient to an inpatient, the data will reflect the change back to the date of service. Remember, sometimes these changes are made days or weeks later. The previous day data is typically available after 9:30 am. This data is collected from the detail room and board charges.
